It’s a common theme today to think about things such as growing up, realizing truths, loss of innocence and such. It’s such a common theme that it is even taught in our schools. Teachers engrave it into our heads, be it subtley or blatantly that we will realize horrible things that they had in their lifetime and that we will become much more ‘mature’ because of it.

So tell me, what is the true difference between growing up, and growing old?

So we’re supposed to realize that things are dangerous, we’ll have to get a job, we’ll be heartbroken and blah blah blah. So, why? Why put all of this on us just because it happened to you? Why rob us of our hope simply because you were unable to fly? Are you protecting us?

I’m sure in their mind they are. But really, as I’ve said before perception truly is reality. Fuck you and your science, think with me, listen to me and consider every damn thing I say and you will understand what I mean. If you don’t you are simply held back by the scientific perameters of your brain. And I pitty you for that.

Again, perception. If you, beyond and shadow of a doubt believe you’re flying you are. It won’t matter what gravity is doing because oyu won’t believe gravity is there. You won’t believe those who say you are. If you COMPLETELY believe, you are. This shows that even children, aren’t living without doubts. Why si this so? Parents get ti their children even before the moment they’re born. But If I completely believe that you’re purple, you are fucking purple.

So now back to my original question, growing up and growing old.

Growing up, consider that, growing up. Is that, obtaining years? But then wouldn’t that be growing old? Maybe. Now, if you’re growing up, you’re learning things. Realizing things. Learning that leaves are plants and are green, that you can deal with certain situations by doing certain things. But even then haven’t you limited yourself to green leaves? Isn’t that heartbreaking? It is to me.

Now growing old. Wrinkles and such. Growing old would be, becoming cynical, things are as they are; they’re never going to change, shit like that.

So they’re roughly the same on a completely spiritual deep level, but let me take it up, out of the horrid depths to somewhere we can all handle it.

Growing up is learning things that help you along, opening your mind. Learning the joy of love and learning to love with all your heart. Believing, hoping. Things like, looking forward to something, taking a risk. That I believe is growing up. The maturity of having the ability to simply be.

Now growing old, becoming cynical as I said. No longer believing, not taking chances. You curl up inside yourself to protect yourself and just let the burns from your past smolder until you die.

So, they all say we have to come to these miraculous realizations, that I should stop caring so much, stop being so much because I’ll get hurt. Fuck them. I love, I care, I will exist with everything I have. If that tears me apart then at least I will die in peace knowing I did what I could instead of smoldering forever.
